Amidst the Unprecedented, A Prayer

In this unprecedented time filled with despair and apprehension, I keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. I do what I know always works--love hard, pray obediently, and read Scripture. While practicing social distancing, I am reminded of the power of prayer. Prayer is the antidote to stress and combats fear. Psalm 18:6 states, “In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.” God is listening to us always, and He hears us loud and clear.

Know that I am thinking of each and every one of you and praying for you. Please feel free to leave any prayer requests down in the comments below. We are in this together.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this moment to praise you, Lord. We thank you for your good grace, your unconditional love for us, and your sovereignty as our Creator. Thank you for sending your one and only son Jesus to show us your healing power and majesty.

Your name is bigger than any sickness, disease, or virus. May your divine intervention reign down upon us as we continue to believe in your supernatural provision and protection. Eliminate the feelings of panic, fear, and worry for those under quarantine, practicing self-isolation, and receiving treatment. We pray for physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing for people of all ages, from newborns to the elderly.

We pray for the medical professionals showing strength and exemplifying leadership. We seek your guidance in making decisions, setting policies, and taking the next best steps. Lord, we are united in you.

We pray for the afflicted, that they may feel your almighty healing power. We pray for an overwhelming sense of peace within them and the ability to comfort and see them in their suffering. May your love and generosity shine brightly in the midst of darkness and anxiety. In your name, Jesus, I pray against the infectious disease.

We run to you, Father. Let us be filled with your Spirit to act wisely, faithfully, and lovingly. Help us to extend a helping hand and to find creative ways to stand together as one body under your name.

Lord, we pray that we are undeniably infused with your love and that we are always looking to you in all seasons of life. We pray to act like you, to love like you, and to serve like you. You are the prince of peace, our waymaker, our light, our truth. With you, anything is possible.

In Jesus name,

Amen
